The patent pending architecture of Repercussion "Bessel vented" drums allows for infinite combination of vent parameters, top shell and bottom shell. We will engineer air gap, profiles, material, heights, thicknesses to sound tailor your drum...oh and yes, you can choose the colours too... So far we have issued prototypes with thick or thin maple / … Lire la suite de True sound tailored Drums

Repercussion is devoted to innovation in the field of musical instruments, linking acoustics and structural dynamics developments with musical instrument crafting in order to propose innovative concepts to performers. Today, a major step has been done as Repercussion filed a patent for the "Bessel vented drum system" after month of lab research and feedback from users. … Lire la suite de Proud to innovate !
No drums building today - A great way to spend valuable time with my daughter : found a DIY Stratocaster for Heloise, my 13 years old birthday...leading to questions like : why are there 3 pickups ? and how do they work anyway ? why would they sound different ? Great times ahead ! Lots … Lire la suite de Building the HeloCaster
Today is a great day for Repercussion drums ! All prototypes have been properly badged ... what would be a drum without a badge anyway ? I would have never imagined how a tiny part of metal would change the global feel and look of my drums !
So everything in a drum works together, the heads, the air inside and the shells, but if we look a bit further around the drum, and provided the number of solutions and devices proposed for "suspension" we will soon find that those have indeed a huge effect on the sound produced. The figure below … Lire la suite de Stand in waves
It's been a busy year, preparing prototypes after prototypes, understanding the findings in the acoustics lab, getting users feedback, drawing plans, following up suppliers and finding solutions for all the issues. Repercussion wishes you a very happy 2017, might this year bring health, joy and blisters to all drummers around.
Directly derived from the results in the lab, I built a set of chassis with varying air gap that are able to hold any type of top and bottom shell combination. Those chassis are holding all lugs and snare strainer, and most importantly are shaped in a way that the opened surface from the inside … Lire la suite de Testing « Bessel vented » drums

Finally ! it's been months of design and calculation, the first 14x5" proto is out and in the studio - Tremendous sound ! It features "Bessel venting" pushed to new performances, shells with absolutely no hardware nor holes, stainless steel lugs, Dunnett throw off. Top and bottom shells are alike (6 ply maple) on this … Lire la suite de New R-evolution from R-epercussion
Finally ! it has been month of design, research of material, suppliers, and I am gathering at last all the parts for my next series of snare drums. Those will benefit from all the understanding we had in the lab relative to venting and global architecture. Just piling the various elements, this future architecture allows […] … Lire la suite de New concept soon out ! — r-epercussion.com
